Setting out northbound from Cadillac before sunrise, my goal is to cover just over a marathon by late morning. If I time it right, I can get there just as Crystal opens the doors at the Buckley Roadside Bar. She tends the bar there, makes me a cheeseburger, and homemade Cherry Cokes. She’s even been known to let me in a few minutes early if I’ve made good time, though the cold wind and rain today meant the grill was already warm by the time I arrived.
Now the sun is setting, and I’m finally in Traverse City. Together again with my family, and friends who are family as well. I’ll be heading to bed soon, I have a race to run in the morning…..
