At noon today, the 4th Annual 24hr Halloween #BlockParty officially came to a close. This was far from my best twenty four hour run, but for me, that’s not what this one is about.
Each year, on the last weekend before Halloween, Heather and I invite a small group of runners to come out and play. While there’s certainly a little friendly competition from time to time, the real challenge is against only yourself. It’s hard to run for that long; to make yourself keep going when everything is telling you how much better you’ll feel if you simply give up and stop. But if you can put all that aside, and do just one more loop, you might just find that you’re capable of so much more than you ever knew. And in the process learn some valuable lessons that apply in nearly all aspects of our lives.
This year I am thrilled to be able to say that we had 5 runners set new personal bests for their longest runs EVER – doubling and even tripling their previous records. And watching this all play out makes every second worth it for me.
Thank you to everyone who logged miles with us this weekend, and of course to Heather for all she does to help make this possible ![]()
