A Perfect Streak

As of 3:21am on Sunday morning, I now have the unique honor of being the only person to have finished the Lighthouse 100 Mile Run every single year.

Each one of these buckles have countless stories behind them. Some of them fun, lighthearted memories, others tales of dark struggles in the late overnight hours. Miles shared with old friends, and so many new friends met along the way. What all of these buckles have in common though is the important role my crew had in helping me earn them. Running 100 miles is really hard, but having the right crew can make all the difference. Over 21 hours this weekend Paaaaa and Todd kept me supplied with what I needed, where I needed it, when I needed it. Some items planned for well in advance, but many more requested out of the blue with really no advance notice. And all provided with smiles on their faces and a positive, motivating attitude.

This weekend I ran 100 miles, but far more than my legs alone went into getting me across the finish line. Thank you to both of these guys for all of their help, and to all of you as well for the comments and messages of support. I honestly can’t tell you how much of a difference they make when things aren’t going as planned. Each and every one of us has within us the ability to accomplish incredible things, and with the help of each other, there really is no limit.
Thank you!

  1. It was so great to meet you out there Matt! You gave me some great tips to help me get across the finish line for my first ultra (that happened to be 100 miles 😬) under my time goal, so thank you! And thanks to your crew for the ice too!
